GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #336

♥Good morning friends,

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have now exactly 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Today is the fourth one of these. Today’s subject is on Silence. It has been suggested by Gunjan Singh. Since I have already written twice about physical silence, I have taken it that she wants me to write about Silence of the Mind. Here goes:

So, you’ve finally managed silence around you,
But your inner self is full of noise.
The peace that you’ve found is untrue,
Since you still haven’t regained your poise.
If you’re looking for complete tranquility,
The noise in your mind is a liability.

The chatter of your thoughts can be very loud,
Really high on the decibel scale.
Your inside feels like being in a crowd,
Whilst outside total calm may prevail.
The noise inside is more difficult to tame,
And you have no one else to blame.

Slow breathing and meditation are the two ways,
To make your mind become silent.
Initially, you may encounter a haze,
And your thoughts continue being violent.
But gradually when you train your mind,
Your inner peace you can easily find.

Try making your mind silent once in a day,
And see how the real benefits accrue.
Slowly your commands your mind learns to obey,
And you find a new friend within you.
Silence is golden you already know,
Now your inner noise too you can let go.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #335

♥ Good morning friends,

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have now exactly 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Today is the third one of these. I have combined two subjects (Pettiness and Forgiveness) suggested by Vice Admiral JS Bedi who practices what he preaches. I know he’ll forgive me if I haven’t met his expectation:

‘To err is human, to forgive divine’,
To overlook honest mistakes is a sign,
That you you can be kind,
Whilst keeping the big aim in mind,
And that you’re not a nit-picker by design.

How often we come across the mules,
Who are always stickler to the rules.
Your every small error,
Unleashes their terror,
They’re convinced all others are fools.

Then there are those who encourage people to grow,
For small mistakes tantrums they don’t throw;
Rather than focusing on negatives,
They build on people’s positives,
The benefits of forgiveness they very well know.

A good leader promotes the best in his team,
To lead by love and not fear is his dream.
He finds it easy to forgive and overlook,
Rather than forever go by the book,
For every petty mistake he doesn’t scream.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #334

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have only a little more than 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Today is the second one of these. I have combined two subjects (Arrogance and Humility) suggested by HS Pannu whom I have always regarded as a great leader. I hope I have met his expectation:

Arrogance is the trait of the petty-minded,
And humility is the virtue of the great.
The former is by his trait totally blinded,
The latter we should all emulate.
The empty pitcher makes more noise,
When it is full it displays poise.

So next time when you want to act arrogant,
And display to everyone your conceit;
Please remember, to others it is evident,
That you are being a tad indiscreet.
The real great are never snobby,
To show others down is never their hobby.

The arrogant finally has to eat the humble pie,
And anyone can see it’s quite a fall;
A new low awaits the one flying high,
But humility never makes one feel small.
The one that stoops is the laden tree,
But is admired more than the haughty.

Gandhi had humility in his stride,
And he emerged as the Father of the Nation.
The lordly Hitler finally committed suicide,
As a result of sheer frustration.
Hence, show humility and emerge greater,
And don’t become small like a dictator.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #333

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have only a little more than 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to suggestions about subjects from friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Let me start with the first one. Thank you Sumedha Nair for suggesting it. I hope I have met your expectation:

I accepted it, God, when you made me poor,
But kept me rich in heart and thought.
I shudder to think if you’d given me grandeur,
But had brought my imagination to nought.
A poor man today can be rich tomorrow,
But poor in thought can only lead to sorrow.

Most of the pain that a man goes through,
Is actually the result of his thought.
He starts believing that it is sadly true,
That God had dealt him the poorest lot.
Blaming God and himself makes it worse,
He lives his life with a self – imposed curse.

Thought makes a man see a glass half full,
Whilst another focuses on its empty space.
The latter on his own eyes pulls the wool,
The former always keeps a hopeful face.
Poverty in thought is the worst fate,
Nothing for you is ever adequate.

As long as you are rich in imagination,
Don’t worry about having less than the rest;
You have no cause for even the slightest desolation,
Since you are rich and truly blessed.
You can reach where no one’s been,
Not even the richest king or queen.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #332

Be nice to people on your way up….

♥ Good morning friends,

Itis difficult to be humble in victory,
It is easier to be so in defeat.
But if you are looking for making history,
Then you don’t, with the vanquished, compete.

You grab the opportunity given to you,
To emerge as someone great.
You start a chapter completely new,
And honour the people’s mandate.

All the wrongs that the defeated did,
Now is the time to pause and recall.
Hence, on animosity you must put a lid,
And mustn’t flaunt your windfall.

God can make a pauper a king,
And He can easily do so overnight.
He can bring to earth one who’s flying,
Like cutting the string of a high kite.

….you’ll meet them on the way down too.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #331

Frustrated with the struggle?

♥ Good morning friends,

There is always a higher hill to climb,
Sometimes physically sometimes in our mind.
This continues in one’s lifetime,
Until in the end the highest one can find.

God so easily put in our nature to Strive,
‘Nothing ventured, nothing won’ we learn.
Just imagine if He hadn’t given us this drive,
We won’t have known our living to earn.

Struggle is thus a great motivation,
That He gave to us to survive,
There is always triumph beyond frustration,
It is the quest that keeps us alive.

So next time you are caught in the struggle,
And you angrily ask yourself why.
Remember that if it hadn’t been for the tussle,
Man won’t have learnt how to fly.

It is actually a gift from God.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #330

What does God look like….

♥ Good morning friends,

Is God a king or a queen?
We don’t know since God is unseen.
What if it is not even a person,
But is actually a thing, force or machine?

Can we comprehend God as breeze,
Going over lands, hills, rivers and seas?
And what if God is just an idea or thought,
Transcending the universe with total ease.

God may look like anything we know,
It might just be a colour in a rainbow.
It has given us the power to imagine,
It can be a person if we think it so.

We are a part of God however small,
Simply because God is in things all.
It is within us and also without.
When you need God just close your eyes and call.

….what difference would it make?

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #329

It is better to accept and be happy….

♥Good morning friends,

You may get disappointed if you expect,
So, before you do so, just introspect.
Why would you trouble your soul,
For things beyond your control?
Isn’t life without expectation perfect?

God has given you everything you need,
Don’t expect Him to also provide for your greed.
Why should you let your happiness depend,
On the response of another person or friend,
When gleefully your life you can lead?

Expectation is really another form of desire,
For things that you don’t really require.
It is as if you force yourself to say:
“Please come and take my peace away,
I want to see myself constantly perspire.”

“God, rather than expect I train myself to accept,
Since all your promises to me you’ve kept.
I don’t want to wilfully become a slave,
Or go with my desires to the grave,
At not mortgaging my happiness I’ve become adept.”

….than to expect and be sad.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #328

Elect God in your life….

♥ Good morning friends,

We go about electing women and men,
Who forget about us the moment they’re elected.
So why not elect God again and again,
Who remains with us even when He’s rejected.

He has no other hidden agenda anywhere,
But to think of doing good for us all.
He is one to one with us through our prayer,
He considers us equal whether big or small.

His promises are never false and dubious,
Just to win our votes and hearts.
His campaign is never filthy and malicious,
He is always on top of the charts.

“God, you’ll always be the winner for me,
I elect you day after day night after night.
You represent the complete universe and humanity,
With you my choice is always good and right.”

….He is always the right choice.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #327

The world is just a reflection….

♥Good morning friends,

The world is as beautiful as you think,
You can change the way it looks in a blink.
When you’re happy it looks bright,
When you’re sad it is anything but right,
It is black now and next moment it’s pink.

Everything in the world is also the way you see,
Serious, happy, dull, burdened or carefree.
The world appears to be a reflection,
Of your inner complexion,
To make it what it should be you have the key.

Have you realised this is great power indeed?
Our ability to change the world is guaranteed.
It responds to our mood,
Our outlook and attitude,
It assumes the same colour, belief and creed.

“Thank you, God, for putting my world under my control,
I can change it in parts or as a whole.
It is exactly what I imagine it to be,
And even though it follows your decree,
It still manages to be in sync with my soul.”

….of your inner self.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #326

Don’t discount small things in life….

Lifestyle consists of series of events small,
That you remember better than the big ones.
How the big events affect life you may not recall,
But the small ones you remember after many suns.

Someone gave you his brightest smile,
Or his appreciation really made your day.
It would stay in your memory for quite a while,
Every now and then in your mind it’d replay.

Who remembers what you did when last war broke out,
Or when the first man landed on the moon?
But when your friend called you have no doubt,
And you walked in the first rain of the monsoon.

This has, for all of us, a beautiful lesson:
We should take pains to get the small ones right.
Perhaps someone’s burden we can lessen,
Or maybe someone’s day can be made bright.

Maybe our kindness he’d still recall,
After days, months and years.
Maybe for him it wasn’t all that small,
Maybe our gesture stopped his tears.

Don’t ever discount, in life, small things,
They lend to life colour and pep.
The real joys of life are carried on their wings,
They bloom like flowers at your doorstep.

….you recall them better than the big things.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #325

Mind has infinite powers….

♥Good morning friends,

Today I want to talk about Mind again,
Even if it appears I’ve said it before.
Each one has been given a most powerful brain,
All that we need to do is its powers to explore.
The entire universe exists because of it,
A man without it is a total misfit.

It has been given powers to remember and record.
An equally great power is to forget.
Generations of data it has in it stored,
Both the powers can be liability or asset.
Mind can travel much faster than Light,
It can see far beyond the eyesight.

Mind is far ahead of the computers it designs,
It’s powers appear to be unlimited.
It breaks the shackles of all confines,
It can be slave to the wise and master to the dim-witted.
It can be trained to give what you demand,
Or it can enslave you under its command.

Those who know how to conquer their Mind,
Have in their control the whole universe.
They’re not to their destiny resigned.
Imagination for them is never a curse.
Mind helps its owner to find its Creator,
Mind knows there is no one who’s greater.

….only you have the power to control it.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #324

Spread happiness wherever you go….

♥Good morning friends,

I have often heard people wishing on birthdays,
That they’d live long, say, a hundred years.
I can very well understand this obsession or craze,
For human life indeed is full of cheers.
But a happy life is better than a long one,
Making others happy too before it is done.

Look at how beautiful a lily is just for a day,
Although it would fall and die that night.
In how many people’s hearts it’d stay,
Because of its outlook, colourful and bright.
You too can make your life happy and a delight,
Whatever be your situation beam your light.

All you need to do is to change the focus,
From yourself to others and to God.
For every small problem don’t make a fuss,
By your every situation don’t be overawed.
A life that’s lived only for one’s own needs,
Has intrinsically in it unhappiness’s seeds.

Smile and let your life be enriching,
For all those whose lives it touches.
It is almost like a tapestry you’re stitching.
It brings joy to others with all its patches.
“God, make me of happiness and beauty a beacon,
Gradually make my desires and focus on myself weaken.”

….and see your happiness grow.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #323

Things happen as per God’s plan….

How often we have seen as we go about living,
That things happen only at a particular time.
No matter about somethings we may have misgiving,
But they happen without reason or rhyme.

Conversely, we may plan something quite in advance,
But, it may never take place at all.
We write it off to just luck or chance,
But, such occurrences are actually banal.

Then there are days that are inspiring and bright,
Whilst others are just dull and sad.
If only someone on this phenomenon shed a little light,
If only you knew how to stay happy and glad.

The fact is in this world that is intertwined,
There are forces and variables beyond our control.
Some of the effects are not single but combined,
Each one of us has a separate but interdependent role.

Hence, we must take everything in our stride,
Knowing that on earth we are not alone.
For every up somewhere there is a downside,
Somethings won’t happen, others you can’t postpone.

“God whatever you give me, let me take it with humility,
Let me not fret about things I can’t control,
Teach me that I must understand the futility,
Of having my wishes and desires to be met as a whole.”

….and not because of our desires and wishes.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #322

When you curse yourself and your fate….

♥Good morning friends,

When did you last have with yourself a talk,
And discover the wonderful person you really are?
With just you in your company go out for a walk,
Locate and follow your own lodestar.
You have in you billions of years of God’s Creation,
You yourself are the cause of joyous celebration.

Next time when you stop to curse your fate,
For not having what you think others possess.
Remember, it took evolution eons to create,
And follow a process you can never guess.
You have in you billions of years of God’s Creation,
You yourself are the cause of joyous celebration.

Do you have any idea how important you are to God?
He looks at you as His work of a lifetime.
And then without knowing you find yourself flawed,
Whereas you are beautiful, you are sublime.
You have in you billions of years of God’s Creation,
You yourself are the cause of joyous celebration.

Cursing yourself is to find faults with your Maker,
And convey to Him what a shoddy job He’s done.
Always remember God is a masterly caretaker,
His best work? Well, you’re the one.
You have in you billions of years of God’s Creation,
You yourself are the cause of joyous celebration.

….you curse God and His Creation.
