GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #351

♥ Good morning friends,

How many of us are able to read correctly,
When important lessons Life gives out?
Some are given directly but most are indirectly,
But we are still filled with unsurety and doubt.
These precious lessons then lie in vain,
Instead of learning we merely complain.

Life is the greatest teacher of them all,
There is so much to learn as we go along.
Some of us, not a single one, can recall,
Others by these have actually emerged strong.
These are provided by God totally free,
But we pretend to be blind and don’t see.

Many lessons are meant for a life’s phase,
You just can’t apply them later at will.
Some would last only for a few days,
Like the expiry date on a medicinal pill.
We can save ourselves grief if we act,
But we fail to gauge their impact.

We pray to God to give us various things,
And He often makes our prayers come true.
We never ask for ability to read what Life brings,
Most often than not we haven’t got a clue.
So, let’s ask God to gift us the blessing,
That Life’s lessons don’t find us guessing.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #350

♥ Good morning friends,

The reach of Omens and Superstitions,
Is to be seen to be believed.
Not just the old fashioned have such traditions,
But even the educated are often deceived.
No one wants to take a chance,
Everyone appears to be in a trance.

Ah, it is just a cat crossing your way,
Or you observed a falling star.
But a sense of disquiet you betray,
When suddenly you stop your car.
You don’t believe in the “crazy” omen,
But you have butterflies in your abdomen.

These unreasonable practices become stronger,
With each passing generation.
To get rid of these becomes longer,
These then become rules not aberration.
Imagine your soul escaping with every sneeze,
Or a solitary sparrow making you freeze.

Start believing in yourself than in this nonsense,
Don’t let superstitions control your mood.
Don’t let these affect your performance,
Or dictate your behaviour and attitude.
Question all doubts and suspicions,
Analyse all omens and superstitions.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #349

♥ Good morning friends,

God is God and Man is Man,
This simple fact alludes us all.
We try to play God when we can,
In making others around us feel small.
We pass judgements in God’s name,
And feel others are worthy of blame.

God is, by and large, our own interpretation,
And hence, playing God, we find it easy.
Not many can resist this great temptation,
About making others about Sin feel uneasy.
We place ourselves at a height,
Ascribing ourselves the right to be right.

If we were to be conscious of not playing God,
We would, in our claims, be more modest.
Not perfect, we’d know we’re often flawed,
And hence be humble whilst being honest.
We’d keep in mind we may be mistaken,
And feeling of humility we would awaken.

So, let’s consciously stop playing God,
And realise we can all make mistakes.
Only God is perfect, we are all flawed.
We should be as forgiving as it takes.
We should then be full of humility,
And of acting superior realise the futility.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #348

♥ Good morning friends,

Don’t let desires become so strong,
That they assume the importance of Needs.
Put them in a place to which they belong,
That’s where you dump weeds.
Like weeds they spoil your life’s garden,
Uproot them before their hold they harden.

Desires also ruin your life’s direction,
You get obsessed to fulfill them.
Gradually you become averse to introspection,
They too become difficult to stem.
Finally, they, not you, are in control,
They eventually become life’s only goal.

Chasing desires can’t be life’s aim,
Else, God provides for your need.
You lose your identity, you’re never the same.
You become puppet to the strings of your greed.
You’re born in the image of God,
You choose to have your life flawed.

Break the shackles and emerge free,
Don’t remain captive to your desires.
Your contentment is your happiness’s key,
Don’t destroy your house in their fires.
Find and realise your life’s goal,
Don’t sell to your desires your soul.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #347

♥Good morning message #347

‘What have I got of my own?’
The answer really makes me feel bad.
There are more things unknown than known,
My ignorance makes me feel sad.

I am insignificant and small,
A drop in an ocean describes my being.
Feeling alone I have no one my own to call,
And then there is Time that’s always fleeing.

Earth and even galaxies look like dots,
In the vastness of the entire universe.
Seen from Space they look like mere spots,
Things and Life are so diverse.

Am I then so minor and insignificant,
Making little difference to the cosmic world?
Who says I am God’s Creation that is magnificent?
When would that Reality be unfurled?

I remain immersed in deep thought,
And still the purpose of my being eludes.
My littleness often makes me distraught,
I have, like everyone, swings of moods.

And then a little voice within tells me,
‘You’re made in the likeness of the Creator.
You may be small but your Spirit is free,
There isn’t in the Universe anything greater.’

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #346

♥Good morning friends,

If things are not too bright,
Make them so.
No one understands your plight,
Let them know.

At the end of the tunnel you don’t see light,
Imagine it there.
Nothing is turning out right,
Don’t feel it is unfair.

The destination doesn’t appear in sight,
Look again, you’ll find.
Everyone appears to hold you in spite,
But God is still kind.

It appears to be a long night,
Look for the dawn within.
You are full of untold fright,
It is only in the outer skin.

God has given us a strong will,
To change our own situation.
It is really never never downhill,
There is no cause for frustration.

Don’t ever feel totally defeated,
Always look for the silver lining.
Momentarily, if behind clouds it’s retreated,
Remember, the Sun is always shining.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #345

Good morning friends,

I don’t know why some people hate their birthday,
Is it that whilst getting older they are filled with dismay?
Or is it simply because each passing year is a reminder,
Of what is approaching fast – the doomsday?

I like birthdays, the feel of being re-born,
There is always excitement as soon as it is morn.
That’s the only day, as Neil Simon would say,
When you can actually ‘Come Blow Your Horn’.

On this day, at least, everyone is ready to please,
Even if you do wrong they feel compelled to appease.
I can’t remember any other day of the year,
When you can be happier or more at your ease.

It is also a day to remember your parents,
How much they must have beamed in your new presence?
You may have looked like a skinned chicken,
But they would have rejoiced in your “beautiful” appearance.

As far as getting older is concerned,
One should celebrate that a lot one has learned.
Yes, the candle gets dimmer in the twilight years,
But how can one forget how brightly it burned?

Thank you, God, for having given me another year,
I am more full of cheer than I am of fear.
There are many fuzzy things in my mind always,
But birthdays are happy, that’s very clear.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #344

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have now less than 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Today is the eleventh one of these. The subject suggested once again by my childhood friend Col Anuj Kainthala is: ‘Gratitude‘. I have done this earlier too but it is worth a repeat. Here goes:

If you’re grateful to God for whatever He has given,
You’ll find that by positivity your life is driven.
You start looking at brighter side of things,
Instead of regret, great joy everything brings.

Gratitude also acknowledges that God means well,
So, doubts about His intentions you can dispel.
When He gives good times we never grumble,
Similarly, hard times should make us humble.

One of the best prayers to God, hence, is this,
Since the time I started, it brings me bliss:
“Thank you, God, for all your gifts to me,
Just make me, of these, grateful and worthy.”

Gratitude itself is, then, a gift from God,
Every blessing of His you’ve the good sense to applaud.
He knows what exactly for us is good,
There is no point in telling Him what He should.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #343

♥Good morning friends,

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have now less than 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Today is the tenth one of these. The subject suggested by HS Pannu is: ‘Rest and Respite‘. I have sadly seen many leaders who hate going home and work very late in the offices. Next day they start tired and have to keep even more late hours. Soon it is cyclic and efficiency is measured not by work output but by hours spent in completing it. Fortunately, HS Pannu always had consideration for his team’s rest and respite. Here goes:

Some of the best books on Leadership I have read,
Have been by Major General Aubrey Newman.
The Follow Me series can actually put you ahead,
And can give you values for being a good human.

One of the qualities that he talks about,
Is on the importance of Rest and Respite.
As a leader you have to consider the fallout,
Of working your men without stop day and night.

And he talks about their importance,
Even in difficult times of war.
No Rest and Respite can affect performance,
And doesn’t take your team very far.

So don’t ever do your planning in such a way,
That you work your men to death.
The importance of sleep and rest never downplay,
Let your men keep their sanity and breath.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #342

♥Good morning friends,

Suddenly you find a friend is gone,
Of almost the same age as you.
Why couldn’t he live to see another dawn?
You look for but find no clue.
Life appears so uncertain,
You don’t know when it’d be curtain.

Why couldn’t God give us eternal life?
Why people have to prematurely die?
Why does He give us struggle and strife?
And make those left behind to cry?
No one has found answers to these,
You go like a candle snuffed in breeze.

However long you live, my friend,
Life would always appear to be short.
Whatever is given, you can’t extend,
This fact no one can distort.
So greet and enjoy each day,
As if it is the last of your stay.

There should be no unfinished tasks,
No reason to have regret.
And before the Angel of Death asks,
There should be no unpaid debt.
The fact of Life we all know,
One day we all have to go.

Whatever life is given to us,
We need to value each day.
Let it not be said we missed the bus,
In waiting for happiness to come our way.
Love and live and live and love,
And leave the rest to God above.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #341

♥Good morning friends,

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have now less than 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Today is the ninth one of these. The subject suggested by Vice Admiral JS Bedi is: ‘Bonding‘. I served under him on the aircraft carrier Viraat. He ensured that we bonded well as a team. Here goes:

When the members of a team together bond,
The team objectives they can go beyond.
The example to give is that of pulling a boat,
When the crew pulls in unison, you can take note.

But bonding is not just pulling as a team,
It is love, it’s a feeling, it’s a dream.
You are several but you seem like one,
You don’t break apart even after it is done.

No orders are needed no frequent instructions,
And yet you follow the same directions.
Sometimes try watching a continuity drill,
The bonding of the team causes a thrill.

If ever you’re asked to lead a team,
Make bonding among the members a common theme.
You’d see the disparities fade away,
Like arranging different flowers in a bouquet.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #340

♥Good morning friends,

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have now less than 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Today is the eighth one of these. The subject suggested by Sumedha Nair is: ‘Sprouting of bud to bloom into a flower‘. Sumedha is a very sensitive person. I have tried to imagine her intent. Here goes:

“I was born a bud and I shall remain a bud,
If I change my identity I shall become a dud.
I like looking green,
Like a fresh bean,
I don’t want my name to go down in mud.”

But then, unknown to the bud, magic took place,
The hidden forces made it open its face.
Being a lovely flower,
Gave it pride and power,
And lent it colour, beauty and grace.

There is a lesson in it for all of us,
When faced with a change, don’t make a fuss.
Allow yourself to bloom,
And don’t ever assume,
That a change shall always be a minus.

You’re not meant to be a bud but a rose,
You”re supposed to be open and not close.
Your interim situation,
Is not your final station,
Allow your hidden beauty to expose.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #339

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have now less than 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Today is the seventh one of these. The two subjects that appear in this are Perfect Planning and Procrastination. Both have been suggested by HS Pannu who is regarded as the role-model in Industrial Security. Here goes:

When you believe you can, you actually can.
But, there is a difference between action and plan.
If all that you want to do is to procrastinate,
The success of your plan you overestimate.

I knew someone who’d waste time in making a perfect plan,
And then restart from where he earlier began.
Everyone was impressed with his thinking process,
But when would he do it was anybody’s guess.

The world is not changed by good intentions,
Or frequent directions and interventions.
It is really changed by those who actually do,
There are hundreds of planners but doers are very few.

Be a doer and try not to procrastinate,
After a certain point costlier would be the wait.
Years of planning and our nation is still poor,
If only for a hundred planners we had one doer.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #338

♥ Good morning friends,

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have now less than 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Today is the sixth one of these. Today I have combined two subjects: Disabilities and Compassion. The forner has been suggested by Alifia Bharmal and latter by Anuj Kainthala. These lead to a beautiful learning. Here goes:

Many are born with many disabilities,
Many get these as their life they live;
Still there are hopeful possibilities,
As long as love and time we can give.
Compassion is a virtue worth possessing,
It is something that has God’s blessing.

The world is such that we’re all related,
We can’t be immune to another’s pain.
Let not the victim be devastated,
Simply because we treat it with disdain.
If others’ suffering we don’t care about,
How can we be proud of being devout?

One sure way to be full of compassion,
Is to imagine it happening to you.
Your own response you can refashion,
And place yourself in the other’s shoe.
Misery is as much a test for the able,
As it really is for the miserable.

There is a famous hymn that Gandhi adored*,
It is about not letting another suffer in vain.
You would have faith in humanity restored,
If you have also felt another’s pain.
When the sufferers with compassion you treat,
Only then your life becomes complete.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #337

♥Good morning friends,

I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have now less than 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.

Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.

I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.

Today is the fifth one of these. Today’s subject is on Strength. It has been suggested by Alifia Bharmal, Lyn’s therapist. It is a very important lesson. Here goes:

When difficult times you have to face,
You look for it to see you through.
You search for it from place to place,
But finally you’ve to find it within you.
You can’t get it from relatives and friends,
However well each one of them intends.

Fortunately, God who gives you times that’re hard,
Also gives you means to deal with them.
This acts as your biggest safeguard,
And soon you know you can overcome.
How you get it you can scarcely learn,
But a huge change you can actually discern.

The giver of every good thing is God,
And so it is with giving you strength.
Most often than not, it is reason to applaud,
That even a cripple can walk at length.
The all powerful gives you what He’s got,
It’ll always be more than what you sought.

So don’t ask God not to give you difficult days,
Just pray for His strength and fortitude.
With those you’ll find hundreds of ways,
To deal with difficulties with energy renewed.
There is never a time when He fails you,
Whenever for hard times He details you.
