मैंने देखा था एक ख्वाब,
एक सबेरा ऐसा उगेगा
सूरज के चढ़ते ही,
बीमारी और लाचारी,
ग़रीबी और बेकसी,
खौफ और मौत,
नफ़रत और बुराई,
पिघल जाएंगे
बर्फ की तरह।

हर तरफ दिखेंगे,
प्यार और प्यार
अमन और इंसानियत,
उम्मीद के चिराग।

फिर देखा:
सब यही है जहां मैं हूं,
जहां सब हैं।
किरण सूरज की ही नहीं,
लौ दिल में भी जलती है।
इसकी रौशनी सूरज से
कई गुणा ज़्यादा है।
जगने दो,
और रौशन होने दो,
दुनिया
अपनी भी और दुनियावालों की।

Good morning friends. One year has gone by and now it seems like I started only yesterday. Here is the last one before I take a break:

After their experience, I’ve heard some people complain,
Love is alright but it can cause quite a pain.

Love’s Labour Lost appears to be their main concern,
I loved him (or her) so much but there was no return.

Little did I know there won’t be any reward,
I wish, to the beginning, my life could be restored.

If I were to live my life all over again,
My own efforts in Love won’t ever go in vain.

Happiness in love can’t be in some return,
If you’re truly in love, this you’ll soon learn.

Asking for reward is like belittling Love yourself,
We need to remember that Love is a reward in itself.

Vilifying your own love doesn’t speak very high,
Of what was in your mind when you gave Love a try.

Everyone must know, Love is in the giving,
It can’t be Love if you dream of receiving.

In Love you always experience nearness to God,
It is only through expectation that Love can be flawed.

Selflessness is Love’s fundamental attribute,
It has nothing at all to do with your own efforts’ fruit.

Life is, we know, short; so love before you die,
Love can make you soar, Love can make you fly.

Only those who’re blessed know how to love,
They shall be closest to the Loving God above.

Vulnerable they’ll never be to hurts and pains,
Since they’d never be expecting, in love, any gains.

Even as I end, this is the best I could give:
Some live to love, I love so as to live.

God made with Love His creation,
And then looked at it with elation.
Let Love be everywhere,
And be the answer to a prayer,
And be, of life, the only foundation.

Hence, there is Love in water, wind, earth and sky,
Indeed, in everything in the universe you come by.
It is in all the beings everywhere,
Not meant for possessing but to share,
And we already know that it will never die.

You may love everything and everyone,
But still your job on earth isn’t done.
You need to love the Maker or God,
And His Creation you need to applaud,
That everything, through Love, can be won.

Even God is, to our Love, a slave,
This power to everyone He freely gave:
“Just try Love and get me,
I bow to every loving devotee,
He can be a king and I can be a knave.”

♥ Good morning friends,

In the third last message of the series I discuss with you the distinction between Love and Attachment:

Love is, we know, for us, the best emotion,
But the same of attachments is not true.
You can, towards your loved one show devotion,
But, getting too attached is not good for you.
One quality of the world is that everything is transient,
Through attachments you seek to make it permanent.

You have people and things for the time being,
In perpetuity you own nothing at all.
The Time, you know, is always fleeing,
Only for a short time your loved ones enthral.
Everybody comes from God and merges with Him,
He has, for all of us, love up to the brim.

Love your home but don’t get too attached,
You don’t own it but you have that illusion.
Even from your own people be detached,
And let me clarify one small confusion:
Love is eternal but not for body and things,
The soul will fly away one day on golden wings.

When you love someone his soul is, of his body, a tenant,
From one life to another it moves from home to home.
The soul is, on Time and Life, not dependent,
It leaves the body and is again free to roam.
Your attachment to body is thus meaningless,
Love the soul that is ageless and deathless.

♥ Good morning friends,

One significant thing about Love I’ll tell today:
All other virtues are in it contained.
Love has everything nice that you want to say,
Every good emotion, through Love, is explained.
Honesty, empathy, decency, trust and humility,
Kindness, patience, hope, faith, and morality.

Love is a flower that blooms in trust,
As opposed to withering in suspicion.
In an atmosphere of doubt it can’t adjust,
For being in love there can’t be precondition.
You have to be with your beloved honest,
You can’t be arrogant, you have to be modest.

Love goes well with Faith and Hope,
A little patience and humility make it complete.
Indeed, the word Love has such a large scope,
Every other virtue somehow takes the backseat.
If you love you can’t help being kind,
In the one you love, the image of God you find.

Love also has in it an element of courage,
As you embark on territory almost unknown.
Let’s assume it has to result in a marriage,
Never in your life you would be alone.
And all this without any preparation,
A new experience, a new sensation.

Is Love affected by the passage of Time?
Or does it go on forever and ever?
Does the clock for Love too chime?
Or does it perish or alter never?
The answers to these are easy to find,
Just close your eyes and clear your mind.

The one between bodies is just infatuation,
True Love is always between two souls.
You can’t elevate it to Love, what is mere flirtation,
Love, on the other hand, has no loopholes.
There lies clue to whether Love is Time bound,
Evidence to the contrary can easily be found.

Souls are eternal, only bodies die.
Anything between souls is beyond limits of Time.
Same immortality then to Love would apply,
Love is like God, timeless and sublime.
Love is then beyond death,
It is linked with soul and not with breath*.

All those who actually love your soul,
Your brother, sister, parents and spouse,
Will jell with it again to become whole,
With death** this flame won’t douse.
So what if from one life to other you can’t recall?
The souls remember and that’s not something small.

*A Hindi song by Gulzar brings out this transience of breath (Jaan) clearly:

Meri jaan, mujhe jaan na kaho meri jaan,

Jaan na kaho anjaan mujhe,
Jaan kahan rehti hai sadaa…

**Only death is that of the body.

♥ Good morning friends,

Love gives you the strength to go on,
When everything else has simply gone.
Love shines like a beacon of light,
Guiding you through the darkest night.
When everything else in your life fails,
It is Love that helps you tip the scales.

As one year of these poems nears the end,
The last few days on Love I want to spend.
I believe Love is, for God, another name,
Come to think of it, God and Love are the same.
And that’s why my focus on this theme,
The subject of Love always makes me beam.

Volumes can be written on this subject,
And yet we won’t have covered every aspect.
Tenacity of Love is the sub – theme today,
And, as you notice, I have a lot to say.
Love doesn’t fade with the fading years,
It doesn’t die when the end of your life nears.

Love is more precious than all the world’s treasures,
It gives more happiness than all other pleasures.
It doesn’t require weapons to safeguard.
The word to be used for it is ‘die-hard’.
A person of Love has God on his side,
You can’t go wrong with Him as your guide.

Why would anyone love anyone?
Is it just for frolic and fun?
How much of it is sacrifice?
What do you have to pay as price?
How do you know you are in love?
Do you get a signal from God above?

Some say it is a matter of chemistry,
But to most it still remains a mystery.
As to why just one and no one else would do,
If only someone would provide a clue.
Lovers being strangers just a moment ago,
Are suddenly closer than anyone they know.

Everyone knows Love is not a reasoned emotion,
Else, you won’t fall in love but do so in slow motion.
It affects your entire life but it overpowers you,
Without your knowing it totally showers you.
Love doesn’t give you, between several, a choice,
All you can do is to trust God and rejoice.

Love is the only one whence you fall and win,
You glow in its light outside and within.
You’re sure your loved one was born for you
And hence there is no one you can take in lieu.
You suddenly find answers to many a question,
Before long your love is your obsession.

One performance enhancing drug is legal,
It is simply called Love.
You soar in the sky like an eagle,
Though you feel more like a dove.
Love can move mountains and cross seas,
Indeed, it can do anything with ease.

In a Russian earthquake many years ago,
A mother and child, for days, were under debris.
She fed her child her own blood, so,
It could survive the quake to a great degree.
Finally when rescued they were still alive,
It was Love that made them miraculously survive.

Love can actually achieve many a great feat,
Its powers know no bound,
It hasn’t heard of anything called defeat,
It is the biggest strength to have around.
With Love, there is nothing you can’t achieve,
All that you have to do is in its power to believe.

Love is the true face of our God,
His own endless powers are in it vested.
It is something that one can truly applaud,
After making it even He rested.
Imagine sharing His own power with everyone,
He put in our hands how the world can be won.

♥Good morning friends,

Yes, Love is the most powerful emotion,
But, does it have healing powers too?
I believe it works like a magic potion,
More effective than any medicinal brew.
Most medicines cure you only physically,
Love also cures you mentally and spiritually.

Do you remember the time when we were small,
Cough, cold and fever would make us sick?
Mother would hug, kiss and wrap us in her shawl,
More than the medicine, her love would do the trick.
I think the only reason we became unwell,
Was so that her Love would even stronger dwell.

Let’s say there is bad blood between you and someone,
And for years it has made your lives hell.
Just try Love before the day is done,
And see how quickly things turn out well.
As a prophylactic Love keeps you from the pain,
That would have otherwise made you insane.

I recommend Love to heal many a complication,
I have tried and found it effective.
Let your soul too go through the purgation,
Suddenly for better is changed your perspective.
The best is that it has no Expiry Date,
For the healing to start, you don’t have to wait.

Sometimes a question arises,
As to whose love is greater,
That of wife, husband, son or daughter,
Father, mother, brother or sister?

We should know that love doesn’t compete,
Each one has its own significance.
Love is always and only between hearts,
Relationships are mere coincidence.

Two persons don’t have to be related,
For love between them to grow.
They may not even know each other,
But the hearts would always know.

God made Love independent of relations,
Like between Radha and Krishna.
Being born of the same God is enough,
You don’t even require same charisma.

I feel God wants us to love one another,
In God We have same Father or Mother,
Don’t restrict Love to who we think are our own,
Wife, husband, uncle, aunt, sister or brother.

A beggar on the street is also our own,
He has the same flesh and blood.
Just because in our ignorance he is unknown,
Our relationship with him can’t be nipped in the bud.

Do you look for a reason for everything?
And get perturbed when sometimes you find nothing.
Do uncertainties of life cause you concern?
Are you ruffled when a cause you can’t discern?

If you are able to live with ambiguity,
With uncertainty and incongruity;
You are someone with great composure,
In everything you don’t look for total disclosure.

Many things happen for no apparent reason.
Even if there is one, you can’t envision.
Only God knows things happen the way they do,
Many are beyond the grasp of me and you.

Even if you find out How and Why,
What exactly does it signify?
Why can’t you trust God and let it be?
Knowing everything doesn’t set you free.

God, I don’t understand an iota of what you created,
But not knowing doesn’t get me agitated.
I don’t know what you have in mind,
All I know is that you are always kind.”

“God, I know you reveal to me what I must know,
What you don’t tell me doesn’t hurt my ego.
When things happen without apparent reason,
I don’t think of these as unholy treason.”

♥ Good morning friends,

Things happen at a particular time,
You can’t hasten them, no matter what you do.
You’d see that for no special reason or rhyme,
Sometimes you can’t let your plan go through.
And then suddenly everything falls in place,
Of your disappointment, there is no trace.

It is the same with people in your life’s train,
Everyone you meet has a definite purpose.
Some may board to give you joy or pain,
Others may be there just to make you nervous.
Try your best, they won’t change,
Something that you think is strange.

Of course, many things you can alter,
But there are many that defy your control.
Before you can call each one a defaulter,
Just examine what exactly is your role.
Let things and people be as free,
As you in your thoughts want to be.

Happy is the one who let them be as they are,
Recognising the limits of his or her control.
He is the one who avoids getting a scar,
By not making changing these his life’s goal.
So be at home with people and things,
And don’t control them with your mind’s strings.

When two paths lie before you:
The Right and the Wrong;
Which one do you normally pursue?
On which do you tread along?
Most people choose the easy way,
Very few would righteousness display.

It takes a long time to build character,
The ability to stand out alone.
You face many a detractor,
But you refuse to bend your backbone.
In the end you emerge the winner,
The one who chose Wrong is the sinner.

You are the one who can face your conscience,
You’ve the ability to look yourself in the eye.
You are never afraid of the subconscious,
Most temptations you can easily defy.
You occupy the moral high ground,
You rejoice on being a rare one around.

If life would belong to those who choose the Wrong,
We can predict the end of the world is near.
The righteous invariably emerges strong,
He has no peer, he has no fear.
Hold your head high and choose the Right,
Admire yourself for being forthright.

Your eyes are the windows of your mind and heart,
Though many feel these are things apart.
What you see is a reflection,
Of your own heart’s complexion,
Indeed, in everything your mind plays a part.

What you see is a matter of your sight,
But whether it is sad or a delight,
Is decided by your mind,
Who is often inclined,
To prevail over your own eyesight.

Thus it tells you, “Such and such looks queer,”
Someone that we must dislike or sneer,
It compares the image with a perception,
That causes an instant deception,
And tells you either to love or to fear.

You can’t do away with this process,
It is actually something fascinating that you possess.
However, just remember you may err,
Even about things that you see out there,
There is, many a times, a need to reassess.
