I started putting up these poems in June 2018. My sister Mona suggested that I should complete 365 days of these. I have only a little more than 30 to put up to complete this challenge, which looked so daunting in the beginning.
Though I shall never run out of subjects, I wanted to devote the last 30 days or so to subjects suggested by friends.
I have obtained many suggestions. I may not write poems on all since some of these have already been written.
Today is the second one of these. I have combined two subjects (Arrogance and Humility) suggested by HS Pannu whom I have always regarded as a great leader. I hope I have met his expectation:
Arrogance is the trait of the petty-minded,
And humility is the virtue of the great.
The former is by his trait totally blinded,
The latter we should all emulate.
The empty pitcher makes more noise,
When it is full it displays poise.
So next time when you want to act arrogant,
And display to everyone your conceit;
Please remember, to others it is evident,
That you are being a tad indiscreet.
The real great are never snobby,
To show others down is never their hobby.
The arrogant finally has to eat the humble pie,
And anyone can see it’s quite a fall;
A new low awaits the one flying high,
But humility never makes one feel small.
The one that stoops is the laden tree,
But is admired more than the haughty.
Gandhi had humility in his stride,
And he emerged as the Father of the Nation.
The lordly Hitler finally committed suicide,
As a result of sheer frustration.
Hence, show humility and emerge greater,
And don’t become small like a dictator.
